A Modern Wayfarer

Screen shot 2014-06-17 at 3.03.08 PM

A Modern Wayfarer is a website dedicated to boutique  and soul-satisfying travel for the young and young-at-heart. It is for those fellow desirers of wander and seekers of the unknown, those kindred spirits and glamorous bohemians who feel that there’s too much beauty, too much amazement in the world to stay still for too long.

A Broad Abroad

Screen shot 2014-06-18 at 5.14.04 PM

I’ve been traveling the world – mostly by myself or with small groups – for a while now and on these trips I started noticing something: I was not alone. As in, the majority of other travelers on the road in the off-beat places I’d go to, were women traveling solo. Not all of them were single, some were married or dating, but they all wanted the experience for themselves.

Truly, Nomadly, Deeply

Screen shot 2014-06-18 at 12.07.40 PM

Hello there, I’m Chris Allbritton, a former conflict reporter. In 2002, I started back-to-iraq.com, which gained some fame/notoriety back in the early days of the Iraq war. But after too many stories about the worst in humanity, I’ve decided to chuck it and start traveling and writing for myself, trying to find some of what is best in the world.

The goal is to circumnavigate the globe using only surface transportation, be it car, rickshaw, donkey-cart, kayak, whatever. Others have done it, and it seems like it can be done again. This is the story of that journey. Wanna come along and see how it ends?

Candice Does The World

Screen shot 2014-06-17 at 2.55.57 PM

This blog is reflective and narrative. My life is a tangled mess of unfortunate coincidences, bizarre experiences, and shady characters. You will find no grandiose exclamations of life lessons here, nor any “Top 5 beaches to get in touch with your inner yogi” shit.

Just me and my relationship with “place.” We’re engaged now guys, it’s Facebook official.

The Blonde Abroad

Screen shot 2014-06-17 at 11.17.26 AM

I established The Blonde Abroad when I stopped living a life bound by limitations and decided to follow my heart and live a life without borders.

Macca Sherifi

Screen shot 2014-06-17 at 11.37.48 AM

My two real passions in life are travelling and photography, which is lucky because half the time I am travelling around the world as a travel writer with a notepad in one hand and a camera in the other.

TravelBreak

Screen shot 2014-06-17 at 11.42.02 AM

I once thought that travel is a break “from” life, an escape from balancing professional drive and social obligations. I soon came to realize, that travel is a break “of” life, rather than take you away from life, it gives you life. You “break off” more from your experience than “a break.”

Hope the play on words didn’t bore you  :]

Latitude Thirty Four

Screen shot 2014-06-17 at 11.49.47 AM

Traveling means something different to everyone. For us it meant leaving our jobs, our families, our friends and everything we know as we set off to the other side of the globe to start of the next chapter of our lives. As the road rises up to meet us, we hope you’re somewhere along it and can join us in the adventures, experiences and memories of our road less traveled.

Bruised Passports

Screen shot 2014-06-17 at 11.53.14 AM

We were schoolmates, friends, we dated for eons, and then we got married. We live in London and save our pennies to travel as often as possible. This is a photo-journal of our travel and fashion adventures. We hope you love it!!

Where’s Sharon

Screen shot 2014-06-17 at 11.58.26 AM

This family travel blog is about an Australian family – Sharon, Joshua, S and Z – who love to travel. It is our passion. This site follows our experiences of travelling with young kids – the good, the bad and the (hopefully not too) ugly!

Beers and Beans

Screen shot 2014-06-18 at 12.42.38 PM

Beers and Beans is really about helping others. Possibly the most important aspect of this site is our desire to fill it with good information about the connections we make on the road in order to showcase the people who working hard to make a difference. As we travel, we will be volunteering, WWOOFing and doing what we can to help out others along the way.

Eye and Pen

Screen shot 2014-06-17 at 12.01.38 PM

I refuse to become another soulless guidebook writer, creating products to just simply fill the shelves with meaningless banter about how “quaint little towns in adorable little places-unknown” will change my life forever. My mission is to write thought-provoking pieces and stories relating to life and my travels, accompanied by heartfelt appraisals of the world-renowned and previously undiscovered destinations. Eye & Pen will be just that, both a work of literature and a visual odyssey.

Travel and Beyond

Screen shot 2014-06-17 at 12.07.15 PM

Portraying a kaleidoscope of all things travel related mixed with just the right dosage of history and culture, Travel and Beyond is a travel blog written by travel writing couple Rosemarie John and Joseph Ellis.

Wonderful Wanderings

Screen shot 2014-06-17 at 12.16.07 PM

Whenever I traveled I felt like anything was possible. My worries, paperwork and dirty laundry became non-existent and I lived fully in the moment. After a trip I was always refilled with energy and ideas, ready to conquer the world. That’s how travel became a priority for me.

Petite Passport

Screen shot 2014-06-18 at 3.25.27 PM

I just love, love, love hotspots. Not the ones you will find in every guidebook, but the more special ones. Shame on me, but I don’t go to a restaurant because the food is superb (well that’s a nice extra) but because of the interior. I like to sit on a Jake chair by Koskela or eat under a Tom Dixon lightbulb. On this blog I hope to collect all the nicest (design) places on earth. To get you, and myself, motivated to travel the world!

Goats On The Road

Infinite Satori

Screen shot 2014-06-17 at 12.31.45 PM

I was born with gypsy blood. I’ve had wanderlust for as long as I can remember. To me, traveling is about creating yourself through wandering, finding adventure and letting it find you, gaining the courage to travel alone and finding bliss in it, exploring the unknown, getting out of your comfort zone, allowing the currents of the universe to flip your world upside down, conquering your fears, getting your heart broken by harsh realities, and falling in love endlessly with this world we know so little about.

The Eager Traveller

Screen shot 2014-06-17 at 12.37.20 PM

This space is a collection of my humble escapades with detailed travel itinerary, personal reflection and practical recommendations. Created in January 2013 to mark my commitment in sharing my experiences with a sincere motivation of inspiring people to nurture their zeal for new adventures and promoting the joy of immersing into the vibrant cultures across the globe.

Yomadic

Screen shot 2014-06-17 at 12.48.46 PM

Yomadic is authentic travel advice, from a genuine traveller. I’ll show you how to get into Iran with a one way ticket and no visa, and how to dine on a Michelin star meal in Hong Kong for less than ten bucks. I’ve dished out phone numbers for a friendly Tuk Tuk driver in Cambodia, and a driver with a fleet of classic cars in Burma. Maybe you would like to visit a two thousand year old abandoned city in a middle eastern desert, for 14 cents? It’s all in here.

Seattle’s Travels

Screen shot 2014-06-17 at 12.51.36 PM

I tend to travel to places that are geologically unique, so I can gush over rock formations and volcanic landscapes. I choose places that are going to provide adventure and adrenaline, and if they might not be known for that–I seek it out.

Be My Travel Muse

Screen shot 2014-06-17 at 1.18.33 PM

I’m a former investment banker who quit my job, sold all of my belongings, and bid the life I knew goodbye in favor of searching for off-the-beaten-path adventures in Asia. I’m a SCUBA addict, humble student of Mandarin, passion fruit enthusiast, and above all, an adventurer. I plan nothing, and simply let things fall into place.

Monkeys and Mountains

Screen shot 2014-06-17 at 1.21.37 PM

I love to travel, hike, and dive – pretty much explore our planet anyway I can.  I am based in Munich and have no plans to leave.  It may have  something to do with a German boy  (J.P.) that I met on a shark diving trip in Costa Rica and later married.

Butterfly Diary

Screen shot 2014-06-17 at 1.53.26 PM

Butterfly Diary is an online magazine, with stories on how travel can transform one’s outlook. Charu contributes the majority of the content, but several writers make the online magazine what it is: a resource filled with travel tips, noteworthy trends and places that young parents can visit.

Have Blog Will Travel

Screen shot 2014-06-18 at 5.58.03 PM

What began as an online account of our travels through Europe in the fall of 2012 has grown into a place for travel inspiration and information, a creative outlet for storytelling and photography, and a resource for anyone wanting to make travel a priority in their life.

The Crowded Planet

Screen shot 2014-06-17 at 2.51.36 PM

The Crowded Planet specializes in nature and adventure travel on a budget, with an eye on sustainability. We like to backpack and travel slowly, hiking and home-staying, eating local food and experiencing street festivals.

Thinking Nomads

Screen shot 2014-06-17 at 2.08.18 PM

Felicity and Marco are a young English/Italian couple who love to travel. In September 2006 we completed a 11 month trip around the world visiting over 30 countries in 5 continents. This trip sparked the wanderlust in us and ever since we have been traveling as much as possible and living a semi nomadic life running our online business.

Laura the Explorer

Screen shot 2014-06-17 at 2.12.51 PM

The more I see, the more I want to see. And at the moment I’ve got no reason to stop, no ties to the UK or to a permanent job. Over the years I’ve worked as a waitress, barmaid, Telesales person, web content writer,  customer service representative and fruit picker, the list goes on but almost every job I’ve had has been temporary and low paid. You really don’t need to be rich to travel you just need to want it badly enough.

Chronicles of a Travel Addict

Screen shot 2014-06-17 at 2.18.38 PM

Typewriters, the Beat Generation, maps, proper grammar, chimpanzees, and Brazil are just some of the things that overwhelm me with curiosity and wonder. I speak/read/write Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese, and am thinking Mandarin could be next on the list.

The Big Travel Theory

Screen shot 2014-06-17 at 2.33.36 PM

We had to make some huge life changes and the year before we left was the most stressful year ever.  Family emergencies, selling everything we had, and quitting my job was a huge undertaking.  There were several times that we weren’t sure if we would ever make it out of the country, or even our house.  We finally started our trip in January 2013 for long term travel.  We’ve been on the road for a while and would love to share our adventures with you.

eTramping

Screen shot 2014-06-17 at 3.07.10 PM

Some people save money for years to go for a lifetime 365-day journey around the World. We don’t. We worry about the lack of cash when we have no cash. Having no money can’t stop us from travelling. If we feel like we start running out of cash, we make a plan, we go to work, we work hard, we save and we carry on. For us travelling isn’t that addictive, unpredictable and fun when you feel financially secure. We are not steady Eddies any more.

Young Adventuress

Screen shot 2014-06-17 at 3.11.25 PM

It didn’t take long for me to figure out that 9 to 5 jobs and cubicles are not for me, so as soon as I graduated from my wonderful college in New England (Mount Holyoke), I filled my big backpack again and flew back to Spain for a year in Córdoba! Now I am living out part 2 of my Spain teaching adventures in Logroño, La Rioja in the north: land of castles and vineyards. Bring on the vino tinto and pinchos, I am ready!

Man on the Lam

Screen shot 2014-06-17 at 3.18.01 PM

What is the point of all this? I want to inform and entertain. That’s all. And hopefully inspire a couple of you to take the leap and see more of what’s outside your door. That would be nice too.

The Wayfarer Diaries

Screen shot 2014-06-17 at 3.55.50 PM

A place for stories that transport those that read them to travel alongside me, sharing the same sights, sounds and smells, the same disasters, the same moments of unparalleled, breathtaking beauty. A place for stories that will hopefully inspire you to take your own journey through the world, wherever that may be.

The Professional Hobo

Screen shot 2014-06-17 at 3.58.49 PM

Nora Dunn has been traipsing around the globe as the professional hobo since 2006, when she decided to take the plunge. She sold her financial planning practice in Toronto Canada, and got rid of all of her belongings in order to free herself up for the adventure of a lifetime.

The Drifter Journals

Screen shot 2014-06-17 at 4.02.33 PM

My multi-ethnic background is a blend of both Polynesian (Native Hawaiian) and Visayan Filipino (Waray-waray/Cebuano), with a dash of (Cantonese) Chinese and (Azorean) Portuguese thrown in for good measure.

Because of my cultural roots, I tend to share posts from the unique perspective of a Pacific Islander-slash-Southeast Asian drifter who is now living abroad. Check out my writing and see what I’m all about!

Nubian Drifter

Screen shot 2014-06-17 at 4.07.10 PM

The Nubian Drifter would like nothing more than to incite a feeling of wanderlust within our readers, so much so that they either begin or continue to create their own travel realities!

We Took The Road Less Traveled

Screen shot 2014-06-18 at 11.04.16 AM

I started this little ol‘ blog back in the spring of 2011 to keep our family and friends up to speed on our adventures living abroad. Today, you’ll find much of the same topics (although my interests are widely varied) including peeks into our daily life as a military family, our exciting travels around Europe, and my obsession with wine, cooking, and reality TV.

Aviators and a Camera

Screen shot 2014-06-18 at 11.19.33 AM

Kirsten Alana shares her musings on art, culture and food around the world in this fantastically curated blog. She blogs about luxurious travel that seeks to go more than skin deep into other cultures, while caring about the earth and the environment of the places she visits as much as possible, seeking never to disturb or harm but instead inspire others to know the world outside their own country better.

A Restless Transplant

Screen shot 2014-06-18 at 12.37.51 PM

I left my job in New York in the summer of 2011 and moved into a camper. Since then, I have driven 100000 miles around the west, surfing and camping. These are some of my stories and photos.
