My birthday is actually on New Year’s, and I’d have to say that NYE in Sydney was really something special. There’s a firework display known to be the grandest of the world on any night. It’s also hot in Australia at this time so we did a picnic style NYE by the water. It was really fantastic. Although Las Vegas to watch Kaskade at the then best night club when I was turning twenty-two was also unforgettable.

I would love to make it to the Holi Festival in India – – so many colors ! A true celebration of culture.
If you haven’t been to the Full Moon Festival in Koh Phangan, Thailand –– it’s one of my all time favorite beach parties. If you’re a music devotee, the Sziget Festival in Budapest, Hungary lasts about seven days. I only did a few, but I’ll never forget it.

You can read my tips to the Full Moon Party here. Check out my restless city guide to Budapest here.

TravelBreak.Questions.VolunteerAnywhereInTheWorld

I’d like to spend some time volunteering in Africa – – anywhere in Africa really. Also India and Guatemala might be a  voluntourism reality in the upcoming year. I never tapped into voluntourism because I always figured there’s so much I can do to help in L.A. I’ve worked with several nonprofits, and since it’s I’ll be traveling more, it makes sense to take some of that time and commitment to some projects overseas. You can read about me here. And stay tuned to see if I make it to India, Guatemala and L.A.!

TravelBreak.Questions.YouWouldGiveUpToTravel

More like what three things have I given up to travel!

1. My “dream” career in corporate entertainment. AKA financial and professional security.

2. Material sacrifices such as a car and apartment. With ongoing travel, you don’t need them!

3. Family and friendship time. Ultimately, this is what got me home. I am too close to the people I love to be gone for too long.  Check out 12 Shameless Ways to Save for Travel in your 20s.

TravelBreak.Questions.WheredidyoustudyAbroud

I studied abroad in Barcelona through a program called GSE, just for a summer while in college. The following summer I studied in Rio de Janeiro for a Global Research Seminar for UCLA’s Global Studies Department.  Studying abroad is a massive means by which to safely leave your bubble and expose yourself to a whole new world and culture. It’s a lot of fun too! For my personality, I think Barcelona and Rio were perfect selections to study abroad. However, to be honest, I think I would have gone almost anywhere. You can read my article about Rio here and an article about Barcelona is soon to come!

TravelBreak.Questions.Top3EuropeanDestinations

1.    Ireland – road trip it: Giant’s Causeway, Cliffs of Moher, Dublin, and Blarney’s Castle.

2.  Dubrovnik, Croatia – – a real life Game of Thrones!

3.   Really? You can only pick three? I’d say it’s a tie between Cyprus, Budapest, and Amsterdam. You can read about Cyrpus and Budapest here.

TravelBreak.Questions.croatia.RealLifeGameofThrones

I did Dubrovnik with my guy best friend from high school and his other girl best friend from college. Somewhere between pirate ships and gelato, I found a fantasy world within Dubrovnik. It was CRAZY. If I went back, I’d love to take them with me; a reunion abroad just for kicks. It’s a perfect place for young single people, families, or couples seeking romance. Croatia has it all. Boats, boats, boats!
